DANIEL MUIR (m/late teens)
A shy, repressed young man struggling to come of age, he is the adopted son of a "fire and brimstone" preacher. Daniel's knows what he wants, but has trouble standing up for himself.
JOSIAH STARK (m/late 40s)
If thunder walked the earth it would be called Josiah Stark. A seaman beached by his medical condition, Josiah blames the world for his troubles. He is always on the lookout for enemies.
CATHERINE STARK (f/late teens)
A woman by circumstance, not by age, Catherine tries to take care of her father. Her life is one of service and solitude, and she longs for a change. She is a flowering withering under her father baleful care.
JOHN GRIFFING (m/20s)
A brutal, handsome hunk of a man, John believes that he owns whatever he can take by force, including Catherine. Sly and opportunistic, his "skills" are available to the highest bidder.
